But my point is that his reference is shit. The All-Pro is only awarded to 1 TE each year (2 if you count the times they get a 2nd teamer). Gronk's the best ever at the position. Kelce's one of the best receiving TEs ever. Kittle is the best overall TE in the game with Gronk gone, and making his argument for being a HOFer. That's the 3 guys dominating that award, winning it every year of the 10 save one. So how is it newsworthy that, say, Hockenson can't crack that trio? And, if he's not counting Olsen because Olsen was 2nd team, he's basically acting as if nobody beating out one of the Gronk/Kelce/Kittle trio, save Anderson's one time, is some kind of a negative or curiousity.
Let me try this another way. From 2001-2011, the AFC was dominated by Brady, Peyton, and Roethlisberger. One of those the QBs took his team to the SB in 10 of those 11 seasons, with the only exception being the 2002 season (Gannon and the Raiders). You may or may not think the rest of the AFC QBs were a steaming pile of shit, but the fact that they couldn't beat Brady/Peyton/Ben, three clear HOF quarterbacks, doesn't make that case.
These offseason "did you know" data points are hit and miss. Dov just missed by a mile with this one.
