Gloves and Speedo Workout, Fitness & Nutrition Thread

Been watching Instagram reels and TikToks about gym/fitness stuff.I can’t believe how far off reality this stuff is from what the average guy wants to see.

Where to start? I don’t want to look like a fucking lego block. I don’t walk around shirtless all day like a fucking dick wad. Or work out shirtless.

Let’s say that a lot of men just want to look better, stronger, muscular. Which muscles do most people see? There’s almost no videos dedicated to the secret sauce stuff. Lean, long muscular definition. Forearms. Brachialis. Stuff that people see when you wear a casual t shirt.

This was the body both men and women desire according to that survey.

And this is like 99% of the influencers:

Video summary: an old guy is watching a guy at the gym. Before he leaves he gives the guy a compliment. Video reminds people that just because someone is watching you doesn’t make them a creep.

I find this to be so true. There are so many assholes on social media shaming people for eyeballing them, and women wearing clothes to attract looks and then shaming the people looking at them.

Just a few months ago I was working out and noticed a guy kept looking at me. Honestly it didn’t bother me. He looked like he had just started working out. When he was leaving he walked up to me and said I was inspiring him because I’m working my ass off. I’m sure he also was seeing how some of the exercises work.

I watch people sometimes, not in a creepy way, but sometimes I see a new exercise and I want to see how they do it. Obviously if it’s a woman you wanna be really careful. I’ll just look for like 5 seconds with my eyes focused on the movement, and kind of nod my head to signal I’m learning it, to make sure it doesn’t look like I’m some weirdo. I’ve had people after just say something like “have you tried this exercise” and most people are flattered. Obviously just read body language and if they don’t want to be seen, don’t look.

I’d guess >80% of the time if someone’s watching you it’s because for whatever reason they want to see your workout and nothing creepy.

most of my studio is comprised of women. that said,i def. watch the buffer babes to see what weights they use and techniques. i almost always will compliment them too on their strength or how badass they are. a guy watching me would probably crack up... 🤣

so there's usually this 1 guy next to me in my strength class. he was next to me today. i can imagine his thought bubble: "ooooo look at that girl. it must be AMAZING to not be able to use 10 lb weights to do a minute of curls. she has the arms of a 3rd grade boy! wait..i take it back! i emerged from the MUHFUCKIN,WOMB holding 10s" 🤣

Women can destroy me at anything involving flexibility and most leg exercises though.

Only 3 in 100 gym goers can bench press 225 lbs (and less than 1 in 1000 in general population.) I always thought the pct was much higher than that.

I’m at about 195 right now on a Jones machine (bar is attached but can move in either direction.)

225 is my goal. Seems like a long way to go to get from 195 to 225 though. I used to add 10 lbs to the bar every week or two, then five lbs, now just trying to maintain.

This is pretty cool, actually clicked on this ad on Instagram. This is what I was saying a few weeks ago that I’m limited on some exercises like barbell rows and deadlift because of the stress on my hands, wrists, joints, etc rather than the actual muscles. This creates a neutral grip. Used for pullups too. Just ordered some and excited to use them. I’ve been dreading some barbell exercises because they shred my hands and fingers and put tremendous pressure on lower arms and also on shoulder joints.

please let us know how this works for you. my place has some heavier dumbells but they have that rough metal grip on them (not sure why they make those) so i haven't gone to them for deadlifts. this might make that work for me.

They are awesome. Buy them.

sweet! do they look like they would accommodate dumbells also? it's hard to tell from the pictures(i looked it up on amazon).

I don’t think they’d work for dumbbells because the diameter of a dumbbell is too small. With a dumbbell you could rotate it to the neutral grip position for most exercises but not all. It would be a great idea to have a dumbbell one though because they are hard to rotate parallel.

thanks! glad they work for you.

Some of these breads have come a long way. I bought this the other day at 40 cals per slice (1/2 normal). Also 4g protein per slice (2x normal.). I expected it to taste like crap but it didn’t. It tasted slightly sweet like white bread normally does and also fluffy. Trying to get my hands on a Nature’s Own white bread variation at 35 calories / 6g protein. When I use butter and garlic, I really can’t tell the difference between this and reg white bread.
