Depends on QB, coaching staff - both in planning and game day decisions. If it were one or the other, then filling some personnel holes would be enough - mainly due to the defense being so damn good.Man, just looking at the transactions done, and the transactions considered definite or likely....
If the Patriots are actually willing to spend the money, they could be a playoff team this year.

This may be the most anticipated draft since the Pat's first.
I see what you mean - and I agree that Kirk is the much better choice. Wilson seemed to be feast or famine since he got to Denver, and that can kill a team's mojo. But, put him in a more restrictive offense with a top running game ... maybe he could be disciplined enough. They could pretty much waltz into the playoffs with average coaching, if they grabbed a couple of the tackles springing loose (Onwenu would be keeping rather than grabbing, but you get the drift), grabbed one of the WRs, Brought back Henry (maybe add Logan?), added one of the top RBs, drafted the "right" WR at #3, and signed one of the ok QBs that'll be on the market.
For example, for all the crap that people have talked about Russell Wilson, he got Denver to 8 wins last season. He's not the guy anyone really would want, but he should be able to get a team with, say
Evans
Harrison, Jr.
Bourne
Douglas
WR5
Henry
Logan
Stevenson
Ekler (as the 3dRB) or one of the other top guys rumored to be coming on the market
Onwenu
Smith (or other quality available OT)
Strange (I know, but he's there)
Sow (or insert other RG here)
Andrews
into the playoffs, as long as the defense didn't shit the bed.
Do that, and you can decide between QB and OL with the second round pick, for either development or depth purposes, and you're also potentially set for years with that lineup, depending upon who you grab for that OT spot. And doing that would allow you to focus the near-term future draft capital mostly on defense, QB and C.
And that's just using Wilson as an example. I know a lot of people would prefer a guy like Cousins, though he'll probably be a lot more expensive, or some other option, but I'm just spitballing here, as we still don't have 100% certainty on which veterans will be available.

Over $100M in cap space. I just hope they’re not clearing that space to sign Cousins or to trade for, then pay, Fields.Man, just looking at the transactions done, and the transactions considered definite or likely....

Hey now Cousins isn't the end of the world. I'd love to have him backOver $100M in cap space. I just hope they’re not clearing that space to sign Cousins or to trade for, then pay, Fields.
The Bucs know how to draft well too. With Mayfield they should win the South again. Goddammit I really wanted Evans.Just coming to post this. They likely want Mayfield back as well, and this is a bargaining chip.
