NFL Roster Transactions

The Kansas City Chiefs have officially placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on L'Jarius Sneed, but that doesn't mean the talented cornerback will be on the team's roster in 2024. The Chiefs are tagging Sneed, but both sides are open to a possible trade if they can't come to terms on a long-term deal, according to ESPN.

While the tag usually isn't used like this, it gives both Sneed and the Chiefs options. This gives both sides the opportunity to have more time to work on a long-term deal. It also gives both sides the chance to explore a trade.
The non-exclusive tag guarantees Sneed at the very least a one-year salary of the five highest-paid players at his position from the previous five years (applied to the current salary cap), or 120% of his previous salary -- whichever is higher. It also allows Sneed the ability to negotiate with other teams, which would have to give the Chiefs two first-round picks in addition to a new contract. However, keep in mind that a trade before the July deadline does not have to include two first-round picks...

There's rumors circulating we may trade Aiyuk if we cannot get a deal done.
I like Aiyuk a lot, he's turned into a great all around WR. The only reason he disappears at times is because your team has so many other great offensive players.

Smart move by the Giants. Let PUPley test the market and see what he can get. If you’re comfortable with it, match it. If not? Let him go. RB just isn’t that important of a position anymore, even for a guy as dynamic as he is. His durability is a question, though. Let him see what he can get. Low risk.
Barkley has never really lived up to the hype has he.

Josh Allen, Burns, Jaylon Johnson, Madubuike, and Pittman have been tagged.

Patriots hit Dugger with the transition tag (very inclusive of them).

I’m not sure what Trent Baalke was thinking - waiting until the last minute to offer Allen a contract - before tagging him. The Jags are such a poverty franchise. That will go over like a fart in an elevator in their locker room.

Well the WR I wanted the Pats to go after are out(Evans, Higgins, Pittman). Looks like re sign Bourne and hope to finally hit on a WR in the draft. Maybe go after Ridley

Chris Jones is chasing greatness no way he shuns Mahomes for the Pats
Yeah I bet he returns.

Imagine Tyreek Hill’s on field legacy if he could boast 3 rings, and he probably could have made 90% of the money. They’d be comparing his trajectory to Rice right now.

Something I heard on a fantasy football pod that was interesting. With the top 3 WR getting tagged it leaves a fairly weak FA class at the position. The good news is this years draft is loaded at WR. Conversely the RB's group for FA this year is stacked with talented guys looking for contract #2 and the draft class is really not great or deep. It will be interesting to see if teams are willing to pay a bit for RB's with the cap increase.

The one thing I'd challenge from the above is that teams don't usually let top WR's walk these days. It's more likely they keep or trade them.

Given the veterans already cut, and those likely to be cut later, this offseason has set up perfectly, if Kraft opens up the checkbook.

Well, perfectly other than having one of those WRs spring loose and jumping to New England, of course....
