Patriots news

I’d like to see them do this rather than a bunch of overpriced middle class free agents.

Yup, and high priced guys from 2023 are cheaper too.....

All in all, I am happy with day 1 of free agency (err....the legal tampering period).

Defense:

Dugger TT'd: Happy with this. Since then, there have been a ton of safeties dumped into the streets. I don't think Dugger will find an offer that the Pats cannot match.
Lost Mack Wilson: That hurt a bit. I thought Mack Wilson finally came on a bit last year.
Signed another LB from Cleveland...a former 3rd round pick that Wolf simped for when he worked for the Browns.

Offense:
Henry resigned: We were not getting a better TE out there in FA nor the draft (outside of Bowers).
Bourne resigned: He played well last year.
Parker told that he would be released: Thank you for your time, Parker.
Onwenu resigned: This is HUGE. But we paid a pretty penny....Onwenu clearly didn't need an agent after all.
Steeler RT signed: This is a swing tackle at minimum...possible starter at RT.

ST:
Let Chris Board go: Not sure if that was a good decision.
Resigned Reagor on the cheap: At minimum this guy is our KOR.

a.) I'd still like one more WR (Ridley? or Mike Williams) to add to the WR room. Right now our starting WR's are: Bourne, Douglas, Smith-Schuster, Thornton, and Boutte....we need one more WR.

b.) I'd like to add some more meat to the TE room too...maybe Gerald Everett? And also add a blocking TE too. I don't want us reaching for a TE in the draft....

c.) I'd like to add one big time starter in FA. Danielle Hunter anyone? Or someone up front to replace Guy? Like Jordan Philips from the Bills?

d.) Can't hurt to add some more secondary depth too...

thats another reason we need a franchise QB... we're not a desirable destination anymore

- Mass state income tax (+ millionaire tax)
- Shitty ass weather 6 months or so out of the year
- No legit starting quality QB
- very questionable offense

will take us outbidding in a lot of cases, until we establish that competitive draw again.. but right now we're a doormat team with no QB and a questionable future

We have a coach who is loved by the media. And Sideshow Bob is building a rainbow coalition of love, lollipops, and unicorns.

All will be well. And if it's not? The media will tell you it's all well for a few years before they turn on him.

We do have the #3 pick and clear intentions to draft a franchise QB....err....or try to.

And I believe that the state income tax only affects games played at Gillette during the year....which would be 8 or 9 regular season games, 1-2 pre-season games, off-season roster bonuses/signing bonuses....

And our offense isn't that questionable, IMO. We have 4 of 5 OL-men in place....and a very deep WR corps filled with #2 WR's....a decent starting TE...a good rushing combo in Stevenson/Gibson. Just need to give some kid the keys to the car and add a tank of nitrous oxide , IMO.

im cautiously optimistic

thats 4 of 5 OL that were ranked dead last in the league in terms of pass protection, on an offense that ranked dead last in production

We're deep on the back end at WR.. I like Bourne as a WR3, I really like us getting Douglas in the 6th round, he looks like a legit slot WR for us

but im not a fan of JuJu as WR2, and we're still missing a WR1

very happy they cut Parker (or are going to apparently), he looked like a veteran who didn't give a shit last year.. you could see the lack of effort in his play and body language

Henry is a decent TE1, would be nice to get a young TE in draft to develop behind him

Stevenson/Gibson is legit duo, agreed.. would still like to see them bring back Ezekiel Elliot for depth, or draft another promising prospect in mid to late rounds of draft.. but lots of vet RBs out there that im sure could be had for fairly cheap

We also have a big question mark at Left Tackle, and our future at Center

Right now our glaring needs on offense are:
QB1
WR1
LT

Areas to improve:
WR2
TE2
RB2

Areas we need to address for future:
Center
RB
TE

WR: Yeah, I agree...we made our bed with JuJu last year. We can only hope that he isn't injured this year and ready to go....he will be in a contract year anyway because we will save about 7.5M vs. the cap when we release him in 2025. I am excited about Bourne and Douglas. I still am holding out hope on Thorton...at the minimum...this kid should be doing decoy sprints during games to draw one safety to his side of the field, IMO. If we get a WR1....all of our guys slide down one spot on the roster.

QB: The #3 pick is gonna be Daniels or Maye....book it. I mean I don't see the Pats front office getting cute and trading back for J.J. McCarthy or taking Nix in round 2.

OT: I am still holding out hope for Tyron Smith on an one year deal or Jonah Williams.....still can be done today. But I absolutely want another OT in round 2 or 3 as well.

WR2/TE2: No need for improvement, but I expect us to also draft a WR and a TE....plus sign a blocking TE in the upcoming days.

Future RB needs: Easily addressed, IMO....a ton of RB's in FA every year...hell....even Josh Jacobs signed essentially an one year deal...and doing mocks I am seeing the UT RB available in the 3rd if we wanted to go that route. Not worried about Stevenson walking....RBs are dime a dozen....

I was actually coming in here to bring up the taxes. That’s offset by Kraft overpaying for FAs, if he actually decides to do that, but that combined with a team that’s short on talent, and without anything approaching a quality QB, is probably hurting us.

I believe if Ridley re-signs today ATL gets a 2nd, if it’s after the start of the league year it’s a 3rd
