Found out last night at a friends event that Fields got traded to the Steelers. Wilson must be pissed!

Damn, the 2021 QB class:

Lawrence - Looked shaky as a franchise QB down the stretch last year, but still on solid ground.
Wilson - Jets cut him, right? Not sure what's up with him?
Lance - Traded to Dallas for a 4th last year.
Fields - Traded to the Steelers for a 6th NEXT year.
Jones - Traded to the Jags for a 6th.

This is starting to make me think of taking MHJ with #3.....and maybe trading back up into the late 1st for Penix?

Yeah.... It puts a face to the data.

Another way to look at it is to look at the 3rd QBs taken in the draft. Here's the list of every one of them since the Roethlisberger draft:

Anthony Richardson
Malik Willis
Trey Lance
Tua
Dwayne Haskins
Josh Allen
DeShauan Watson
Paxton Lynch
Garrett Grayson
Teddy Bridgewater
Mike Glennon
Ryan Tannehill
Blaine Gabbert
Jimmy Clausen
Josh Freeman
Brian Brohm
Kevin Kolb
Jay Cutler
Jason Campbell

And then, just to show that I'm not cherry picking by skipping the only HOF-level QB in the bunch (at least to date), here is the rest of the 3rd QB chosen list since Brady entered the league (again, let me point out that Roethlisberger would be on this list if I hadn't used him to highlight the overall point):

Kyle Boller
Patrick Ramsey
Quincy Carter
Chris Redman

That's what taking the third QB in the draft has produced in the Brady era. That's why I laugh at the "They HAVE to take a QB" crew, especially the media idiots who should know better.

Nice summary.

But I have to admit that I am intrigued by either Daniels or Maye....

Are there any other better prospects than those two next year?

I wish I could help you with that, but I don't know. I haven't even looked at next year's group.

I really like Carson Beck but if you want a dual threat he isn't your guy.

Most people I've seen say this, have said it under the presumption that the team thinks the QB at #3 is "the guy" whether it's Maye or Daniels. And I would agree that if they feel that way, they should pick him. But the inverse is also true, if they aren't convinced then they HAVE to at least explore trading down, stocking up picks and getting more shots at blue chippers.

I am fine with Maye at #3, I'm fine with the trade down, draft WR and Penix (or other QB). I would be fine with MHJ at #3 if they do it. All I care about is whatever they do, works... They have the ammo to do it, to get better.. I really hope they don't fuck it up.

MHJ and Joe Alt are the 2 safest picks, IMO

Can't really complain over my Niners free agency. Have a lot of decisions to make once Purdy rookie contract is up.
