A lot of people are very concerned with whether the head coach comes from an offensive or a defensive background and I've always wondered why is that a concern?
I'm just saying all the past conference champions have had a offensive oriented HC

kraft was so concerned with Mayo leaving because he had all these head coach interviews that he just had to designate mayo as head coach in waiting with the Patriots when mayo signed his extension. So we won't worry about Mayo. I'm sure he'll become a head coach at 1 of those other places right away.

Okay but correlation does not equal causation. what do you think is the actual correlation with the head coach having to come from an offensive background in order to compete? Sean McDermott is a defensive guy. The Chiefs didn't win dick until they got Steve spagnuolo to go with mahomes,etc. Their defense was absolutely huge in their Super Bowl wins.
My point is that i think it's more important that the head coach is a great leader and knows how to manage a team and manage his coaches and the situations that come up and knows how to hire great coordinators/staff.
